Our Story
Welcome to The Cubbyhole Woodshop! We are the Stoehr’s. Altogether, there are 12 people in our family, our parents (Chris and Jenny), six kids (Grace, Lydia, Emma, Ethan, Caleb, and Tim) one brother-in-law, and three adorable grandchildren). We spent most of our younger years moving around because of our fathers work but we finally settled down in Texas in 2012.
When we bought our house in 2016, most of us had outgrown the play set our Grandpa had built for us girls in 2001 before the boys came along. Even though we had all outgrown it, except for Tim, we didn’t want to get rid of it. Instead, we decided to add onto it so that we could keep using it. We drew up some plans and spent several weekends in July fixing it up. We added monkey bars, rock walls, and a rope climb, among other things. Building our new play set intrigued Caleb, so he and our mom started experimenting with making other things. When our grandfather, who is a woodworker, saw Caleb’s interest he suggested that he try using a scroll saw… Well, let’s just say that after that there was no looking back.
When we decided to add onto our play set none of us would’ve guessed that we would be where we are today. That spark that God planted in Caleb spread to the rest of us and, while Caleb is the driving force behind our woodworking business, we all play a part in it and we couldn’t do it without each and every one of us. Our dream is to eventually own and operate our own sawmill-where we can mill the wood we use for our products-and have a storefront to sell our creations. We want to be able to share the joy we have found in our faith and family through the products we make and the encounters people have with us.

Our mission
As a faith based, family owned and operated business we aim to create high quality goods that will encourage and uplift families. All products we make are hand crafted in Texas, made out of solid wood and protected with a food safe polyurethane.
Home decor-why we do it
With six kids we understand how busy life can be with sports, school, church and the other hundred activities kids are involved in. When you’re constantly on the go and there isn’t much time to even fix dinner, home decor gets tossed to the side and forgotten about. That’s why, at the Cubbyhole Woodshop, we design our home decor to be able to be used year round.
Hand crafted Puzzles-why we do it
When life is crazy and your kids are demanding your attention all you want is some peace and quiet for a few minutes to catch your breath. At The Cubbyhole Woodshop, we strive to design our hand crafted puzzles to be simple but beautiful. Simple enough that your children can put them together in just a few minutes-long enough for you to catch your breath-and pretty enough that you can display them on a shelf or table.
Custom woodwork-why we do it
Have you ever gotten a special gift that someone made specifically for you? A child’s drawing? A handmade or personalized gift? We believe the most special gifts we can either give or get are the one’s that are specifically made for us. That’s why at The Cubbyhole Woodshop, we will make custom items for you and your family. We have options for you to choose from or you can email us your idea and we will work with you to make your dream a reality.
